Good thought, but I'm not sure how it would work.  Are you thinking of ducting out of the compartment?  I'd like that idea as running the blower seems to have a noticable effect on the charging rate.

  Has anybody considered the idea of fitting a plasic fan blade to a v belt pulley to serve the dual purpose of reducing the engine compartment temperature and increasing ventilation.I saw a replacement blade for a 12v fan in West Marine last year that looked as though it might do the job.
