When I was referred to the site by a friend he told me it was $9.95 a year.
I just went to the site and it looked to me like it was only $8.95 per year.
Then I called my wife who actually did our registration. She told me it
ended up being $14.95 for the domain and another $9.95 for email forwarding.
I could never find .name pricing was actually listed anywhere. It appears
you find out after you get further into the registration process.
I apologize for the misinformation. I hope this is the last off topic post
on this subject.

The response to my earlier post has been amazing. Many people have shared
their story both publicly on the list and privately with an email to me
directly. In time, I will compile a summary and post it to the list.
A recent response noted that while I suggested dialog outside the list, I
did not provide my email address. So here it is for those who don't already
have it.

I get nothing for this but I would also like to plug www.godaddy.com. These
folks are domain registrars and are taking registrations for the .NAME
domain. As you can see, I was able to register my name as a domain. The
cost is $9.95 per year and it can be cheaper with a longer term contract.
The service includes email forwarding along with complete domain
registration. Don't bother looking since they aren't up (yet) but I will be
able to setup www.tc.williams.name plus any number hosts at
<hostname>.tc.williams.name. My favorite is the email forwarding as I am
not at the mercy of my current ISP. We all have gone through the hassle of
changing ISP's and then going around telling everyone about our new email
address.
I know it's a little off topic but we all use email and I thought I would
share.
Thanks,
TC Williams

Subject: [Alberg30] Alberg 30 Fair Market Value
As some of you already know, I have been involved in a very nasty divorce
over the past few years. It looks like it might all be over soon. We need
only divide up some of the remaining assets. This of course means
determining the "fair market value" of Argo.
Both my ex-wife and I hired independent appraisers. The problem is the two
appraisals are very far apart. I expect her to challenge mine for being too
low and so I need to be prepared to challenge hers for being too high.
My appraisal was done by Tom Marlody. Since Tom was the broker when I
purchased Argo and I know him to have experience in selling many other
Alberg 30's, I thought he would be a very credible source. My ex hired the
services of a marine architect who came back with the number in the book,
not taking into account the fact Argo still has the original Atomic 4 (which
presently doesn't run and may need to be replaced).
If anyone would like to share with me any anecdotal information to support
what Alberg 30's in various conditions are worth these days I would greatly
appreciate it. The more information I have about actual sales that have
occurred recently the more data I will have to support the appraisals.
Due to the nature of the information being discussed, it might make sense
for any and all dialog to be done outside of the list. When this exercise
is completed, I will compile my findings and post them to the list. Of
course the names will be withheld to keep private information confidential.
Thank you all in advance. This list has been very useful. I wish I had
know about it sooner.
Thanks,
TC Williams
