Me too. I removed the tank from under the cockpit sole 15 years ago (at 
least), installed a "saddle" 18 gallon tank in the starboard sail locker and 
got the wheight out of the stern. I never used that space and like to have 
it open. Peter I know what you mean about the clearance between the top of 
the tank and underside of the deck - about 2".
