Calculating tonnage allowed by using CG net tonnage opens up a can of worms.
Net tonnage is based on volume of bushels of wheat. What the Coast Guard is
certifying here is how many bushels of wheat can be crammed into the Alberg.
It is related to displacement tonnage, but just barely. BTW Checkmate's net
is 5 tons-and I think it is that because 5 tons is the smallest size vessel
that can be documented
