[Alberg30] RE: twin headstays

I have twin headstays on my Rhodes Meridian and agree with Gord that it is
not a good idea. While I have never had a sail unhank itself or foul the
other headstay to the extent I could not get it down, I do agree that it is
impossible to get sufficient tension on the twin stays to keep them from
sagging off to leeward in anything above a zephyr. The loss in sail shape
when flying a single headsail is not, to my mind, made up in the ability to
fly two headsails wing and wing. I've done it with a No.1 genoa and a 180%
drifter which was exciting to say the least. Control was a problem and we
rolled from toe rail to toe rail.

Has anyone installed parallel headstays on their A30? I'm referring to
having two run side-by-side (athwart). I'm looking for advice on design/mods
needed to connect them to the bow. Does the metal piece (whatever it's
called) on the bow? That would seem more secure than attaching something to
that which then attaches to the headstays. One less connection.

Thanks in advance.
