Nigel Calder's book "Marine Diesel Engines" 2nd edition at about $20 is excellent for anyone with diesel engine problems.There is also a good article about fuel polishing at www.trawlerworld.com. Based  on that article I bought the 12v diesel pump and from an agricultural machinery store a combined water separator and fuel filter unit.Link them together and you have a fuel polishing system for about $150.The pump is rated at 60gph so it takes very little time to cycle 8-10 gallons through the 10 micron filter
