[Alberg30] To wheel or not to wheel.

I think Edson makes a wheel that detaches and mounts on the stanchion for
more cockpit room at anchor. And the described feeling of steering
mid-ships facing forward rather then sideways I have always loved. Also, if
you have the original winches on your Alberg, they may not have self
tailing. This can make the sweep of the tiller across the cockpit when
tacking, more of a sport for helmsman and crew. But I have a tendency to
like things of a certain vintage in there original design. And I do love
the simple true responsive feeling of the tiller. To maintain speed on my
Alberg (especially in light winds) it is all about small adjustments to your
coarse. And there is nothing more efficient at this then the direct line of
a tiller. But, the most important thing is to love your boat, so if you
would love a wheel for your boat, go for it!
Best,
Matt (Winsome) #314 (I think?)

Cruising the Chesapeake: A Gunkholer's Guide

My favorite Chesapeake Bay guidebook. While it mentions marinas,
it concentrates on anchorages--the kind of places I prefer to spend
my time. And in addition to listing shore facilities, it rates each
location for Beauty/Interest and Protection. This is the guide you
need to really cruise the Chesapeake Bay--a smorgasbord of small
  creeks and coves.
