[Alberg30] mast painting

One of the guys at our club used a one part paint and it looked great and still does several years later. The cost he said was $60.00 plus sandpaper and his labor. I would do it this way if I had too - especially since I occassionally caress the dock going in or out.

SUre Awlgrip is good but why put all that money $$$ into an expensive paint
when if you are like me and my crew - you are likely to scratch it and need
to touch it up every 2 years or so.

I Suggest a simple single part paint like the stuff sold by interlux. On
the masy you all may have a better point but due to the fact that scratches
on a blue hull (white in nature) gall me, I prefer to have a great paint job
every time I haul vs the cost and overhead (worry at the dock) of more
expensive 2 part paints.

By the way Interlux suggests that todays blend of their brightside line
matches if not exceeds the qualities of some popular 2 part paints.

You be the judge...

I agree, Imron and Awlgrip are the only two paints that should be
considered. Although my boat has been Awlgripped and I am quite pleased
with the job, I have learned from a local yard that does alot of paint jobs
that Imron may be the preferred choice today. This is particularly true of
the darker colors. His reasoning, for what it is worth, is that Dupont
(makers of Imron) has done a better job of keeping up with EPA regulations
than USPaint (makers of Awlgrip). He has had some of the darker Awlgrip
colors craze after only a couple years. While this yard has significant
experience in using both, this is simply his opinion!
