Yes, T5 ,T6 , etc. refer to temper of the aluminum. For example, large
commercial aluminum flagpoles are made from T6 as it is strong yet flexible.
Aluminum sheet for architectural uses is usually made from T5 temper as the
tempering does not effect the ability of the silver aluminum to be color
anodized brown, black, gold. Many aluminum curtainwall buildings are composed
of aluminum extrusions of one alloy and temper that will accept color
anodizing. The flat sheet aluminum panels between floors are made from sheet
with alloy 3003, H (hardness) 13, and temper T5. Both will accept color the
same but each has properties of being easily extruded, rolled flat, strength
