[Alberg30] Mast Step Bolts

I appreciate the really knowledgable comments.  Does anyone know if the 
coachroof is solid glass, where the mast step is mounted?  I was considering 
thru-bolting the mast fore-aft adjustment plate, rather than re-tapping the 
present bolt holes.  If solid, I would not worry about de-lamination of the 
coachroof, and the thru- bolts would provide a stout grip.  Has anyone tried
