So far that sounds good to me. For what it is worth, my mast does not
have internal halyards. I am also interestred in the bail for the
spinnaker halyard. Thanks for the update on the cost.

Dave,

It has been two years since I had the mast head built, it was approx.
$260??
or close to that number. If we go with a group purchase we may be able
to
reduce this number. One issue the was brought up in the process is that
the
cast piece I used as model did not have a sufficient skirt inside of
the
mast. We extended that edge to approx. 2.5 inches. That cost included a
new
mast head light, extension for the Windex and bail for the spinnaker
block.
This also eliminated the using the sheave inside the mast which was
giving
problems when lowering the main.

Stephen

I just spoke to Tom at Profurl and he thinks my best option is a
rebuild
of the mast head. So I will stand by for the pictures. If I go with
the
rebuild, and right now I can not see why I would not, I have no
problem
with volunteering my masthead to serve as a model. Do you have a
recollection of what your rebuild/replacement cost?

Dave,

I took a few photo's of Carina Vela's mast head this weekend, once
they
are
available we will send an e-mail w/attached photos to the A30 Assoc.
Anyone
that is interested in this fix, I would be happy to put together a
group
purchase. I will need someones mast head since the one from Carina
Vela
ended up in the trash.

I am happy as a clam with mine even though I had some installation
challenges. It appears to bullet proof.

As a side question re: Profurl, those of you that have them, how do
you
like them?
I'm still back and forth between Profurl and Schaffer (NC42 vs 2100
in my
case). I've always considered Profurl the best but the discussions I
had
with various resellers during the boat show have me thinking the
Schaffer
system might be better in a pure cruising environment. Everyone
stressed how
free spinning the upper swivel is on the Schaffer vs the sealed steel
bearing on the Profurl.
  Anyone care to comment?
Thanks,
