[Alberg30] Stuffing box packing

The marine stores carry a special stuffing box grease that is like liquid teflon. It comes in a very small container for a very large price but is terriffic. I don't remember the name of the orginal stuff but a small container will last a long time. I saturate the flax with it and then put more inbetween the rings and it allows a great seal with no drip and no heat. While the books say a drip is required to cool the shaft, it would take a steady stream to do any real effective cooling. I have never experienced any heat buildup and we frequently run 10 to 12 hours a day for several weeks when transiting to/from Florida. Check it out, great stuff.
