Yes, George!  Amen to the Dremel!  Other favorites include the PortaSol butane powered soldering iron/hot knife kit.  Terrific for all sorts of stuff, mine lives in my rigging duffle.  Since I'm on a mooring year round, my 18 volt DeWalt power tools have become indespensible (I have the kit with the recip. saw, circular saw, drill and work light).  If you do your own splicing, treat yourself to a Point Hudson fid.  It's so well made and easy to use that it's like cheating.
