I repowered #191 1966 vintage with a Kubota 20 h.p fresh water cooled
diesel.I am very satisfied after three years and 280 hrs later. The
engine did not just drop in place as some people will lead you to
believe. This engine came with shock absorbing mounts.I'm a welder by
trade and I had to build a new engine bed that sat on the old glass
bed, this was built of steel flat bar into a yoke looking thing that
dropped down enough to recieve engine and still line up couplings
without cutting or making new longer shaft. If you are not skilled at
engine installations, don't even try it,on your own. This engine with
transmission is 26"long X 16" wide by 20 something inches high.The
engine compartment seems bare with this Kubota in it.I turn a 12X6 two
blade prop and run @2200 rpm for a 5+kntcruise.This is a simple engine
oil filter and impeller right in front. This came with a two year 2000 hr
warranty.I talked to some people before I bought,Kubota engines are used
extensively on generators,digging machines,tractors etc.I'm not gonna
tell you that they are the best around, but I don't think you'll bet let
down for the price..Three years ago $5400 for engine and hurt gear 2:1
and deluxe panel .This is my experience with Kubota and hope I've
helped Dick
Galliano,La.
p.s I think the only engine that sits in exact replacement is an exact
replacement!!!!!
