[Alberg30] Filling deck holes

Tim, West with cabosil is great and it does sand OK. Cabosil results in a much harder fill, the 407 has little strength. Most important is to grind out the old hole first so the West will have new fresh fibreglass to adhere to. If you do not grind well, the filling will not adhere properly and you have a ready path for moisture. Bruce would fill not quite to the top so that there was a little indented dimple after it hardened and then fill the dimple with gel coat patch and/or West with some white pigment. Need to do this before the filling gets rock hard or you will have the "unground" surface adhesion thing again.

A good idea for new blocks etc., where the deck is cored is to overdrill the holes by about double and then fill as above (taping the bottom to retain the fill). Then drill the filling for the bolt. This gives a much stronger attachment and eliminates the compression problems when tightening the bolts.
