Well, the Maintenance Manual is copyrighted by the Chesapeake Bay Alberg
30 Association. The Long Range Planning Committee specifically decided
against posting it, wanting to keep it a perq of membership.
The way the Association works is that everyone pitches in a little bit.
Almost everything in that manual came from articles submitted to the
monthly newsletter. I personally spent hundreds of hours organizing and
retyping and scanning pictures for the manual. I had a run of 200
copies printed, as we had less than 200 member boats at the time. Well,
that was four years ago and they're now all gone. In the process, they
made a little money for the Association--something those who complain
when the dues go up should appreciate.
The feasibility of reprinting is being looked into, but volunteer time
takes awhile. It's not likely that another printing of 200 would be
smart. They're not making new Alberg 30s at the moment.
But please don't start copying it and passing it out. That's taking
from the Association, and from the members of the Association who give
their time and effort.
