[Alberg30] Wood for Spreaders

I appreciate the reponses but still have some questions of my own.

Why not use Scitka Spruce?
It iw much lighter & Strong ?

Also with oak, I had experienced growing up that fibergalssed, it tends to
rot quicker due to high acid & moisture getting in but not out.

Wouldn't this beg for simply painting the wood?
