>I've done a fair bit of sailing, mostly one
design dinghies, but I've never owned a boat

There are at least several Alberg 30 owners who's first boat is an
Alberg-it was my family's first sailboat-my previous sail experience was an
8' sailing dingy
I bought Checkmate from my parents when they moved up-I had enough cash for
the boat, not enough for a house.24 years later I have no intention of
owning another boat There are quite a few 'Alberg children' with more or
less the same ownership history.

BUT, as far as seeking support to jump off the ownership bridge; That is a
personal decision; group hugs don't work. If and when you decide to get an
Alberg, you will find an incredible support group-this list is just a hint
of what that is like. Almost all former Alberg owners remain members of the
Association-and that is more telling than anything I could say

Michael
Checkmate #220

BTW I am convinced the Alberg 30 remains the ideal boat for the Chesapeake
Bay-for a family of moderate means-which explains why there are about 500
of them on the Bay.
