[Alberg30] Catch-22

You had the prop and shaft off it seems. I could have removed the shaft and
rudder if the prop and shaft were not there but on my boat both of those are
new and I'm not prepared to get that involved.

Reading the many pages of documentation on A30 rudders, there are several
ways it was constructed it seems. On a 1966 rudder, the 5 bolts go through
the post and above the straps to 5 nuts that are embedded in Marine-Tex
(above the straps). Once you dig out to the nuts and remove them the bolts
slide out easily, removing the rudder and leaving the post in place. The
post can't be removed on mine because it binds with the prop shaft as it's
lowered from the hull.
