Hi George and group:

I bought my Alberg 30 4 years ago.

There are always risks associated with buying an older boat - and an older
design of boat.

Four important reasons for my selecting the Alberg 30 over other older boats
were:

 - The Chesapeake Bay Alberg 30 Association

 - the Great Lakes Alberg Association

 - and the Mail List

Now I've sailed all my life. I race on a J-24 and a C&C 36. I owned a C&C
24 for 13 years before I traded up. We've chartered big boats in the
Caribbean many times. And I've got lots of experience on many different
sailboats.

I raced on an Alberg 30 in the 1970s - as had many of my friends - so I was
familiar with the boat way back then when it was a "new" design.

Not all boats stand the test of time however.

And as I went through my "short list" during the selection process it became
quite apparent that Alberg 30 owners:

 - loved their boats

 - loved discussing their boats

 - and loved helping each other with regards to repairs and ongoing
maintenance projects.

There was so much more information available on the Alberg 30 through
<www.alberg30.org> and the Mail List - than for any other class of boat -
that the decision to buy an Alberg 30 became very easy.

I knew there were these 2 great sources - for information, and useful ideas,
and helpful suggestions about my boat.

So I just wanted to add these comments to the mix. It's nice having the one
source <www.alberg30.org> to use all the time - and to see the updates as
they get posted. And it's wonderful to have this e-mail discussion group.

Thank you George. I don't want to see a split in the web site as a source.
And I sure want you to continue your efforts on our behalf.

Many thanks.

Taylor
