[Alberg30] Instruments

This spring I am going to install Horizon 150 instruments. I am getting
a wind instrument and a multi what will read out both speed and depth.
They are a little larger than 4 inches square and will cover the 4 in
circular holes that came with the boat - and the old instruments. My
expectation is that they will be very tough. They will provide nemea
data. I especially look forward to having a graphic for the apparent
wind - I find that really helpful.

I found that the best price was from sail net - about $650.00 for both
- plus the cost of transducers for speed and depth if one does not
already have them. I have prior experience with Horizon instruments and
have found them more than acceptable. I think this one fits in the "best
buy" category.

What advice can you give on boat instrumentation? What do you use? Pros
/ cons to it?

I'm researching now and probably going to start with depth and speed
but would like to later add wind data. I have a handheld GPS that is
great at the moment for course and speed but it's not connected to
anything else.

(I also have a regular and hand-bearing compass - both non-digital).
