[Alberg30] galley and nav station reconstruction

I did the same thing, then bought a really large poly cutting board from
Price Club. I cut it to the size of the old stove cover (maybe just a
little bigger), screwed a brass screw into each corner, cut of the heads
(leaving studs), then drilled small holes in the counter to correspond
with the studs. The board stays in place and is easily removable to get
at the storage beneath. And the cutting board is functional and can be
taken to the cockpit for thorough cleaning...
As to the ice box, I reinsulated with pour-in foam. Didn't help much.
What helps the most is a piece of insulation on top of the ice (below
the cockpit lid). That helped a ton.
I often wonder about cutting the icebox down to make room for a 72 quart
cooler. It would be easier to pack at home and bring to the boat... but
that's heresy. Please forget I said it.
