Hi Dan,
Yeah, there are two marinas in the DC area. The first is Columbia Island
Marina which is right across the river in Virginia. It's next to the
Pentagon. However, it's for motoboats only because of all the bridges.
Unless you're sailing a 16 foot Hobie, masts don't make it under the 14th
street bridge. There is also the Washington Sailing Marina which is right
next to National also in Virginia. Most of the boats there are small
because of the shallow water and long channel to get out. Thistles,
Hobies, Sunfish, and windsurfers have no problem. Most of the larger boats
have keels that can be lifted. It's always fun, but maybe not so much for
an Alberg. Both marinas are with in 10 minutes of G-town. Just cross the
Key bridge and hang a right on GW parkway via rt 50 in Rosslyn. Can't
miss them. Hope this helps.
