[Alberg30] cored hull

Cored hulls tend to delaminate over use/time regardless of the coring
material. Airex is not as good as balsa in form recovery after a blow, but
does not rot the way balsa does if exposed to water over time. A solid hull
can also delaminate either due to poor lay-up or impact - but it tends to
happen less frequently.
I wouldn't council considering a cored hull, but that is simply my opinion,
others may feel differently.
Cheers,
John

Subject: [Alberg30] cored hull
I've been following the thread on Whitby 42 vs. A37 as liveaboard, in which
one correspondent mentioned the issue of solid vs. cored hull. I'm about to
take the plunge for my first auxiliary sailboat and have been looking at Sea
Sprites as well as Albergs. The Sea Sprites (at least 30 and 34) have an
Airex cored hull. Does anyone have any information re: long-term concerns
with an Airex cored hull?
Thanks
Bill Young
