I had a similar experience with my CAL 27 - once cleaned, the treads
worked fine.

Hey Jim,
That was it; the threads in the old turnbuckle I had were seriously
caked
with some old material that once must have passed for lubricant. I
cleared the
thread with WD40, and it fit the thread.
Thanks alot for the info. Of course, I should have figured this one out
on my
own. I am getting punchy, and assumed the worst when I wasn't able to
turn
the replacement turnbuckle on first try.
Thx again,
Lee

hand threaded pieces. What you do is through away the piece that's
equivalent to the one crimped onto the shroud and use the other 2
pieces, or just use
the barrel. If the reason that your saying you need a new barrel is
galling,
then the threaded pieces may need replacement too. Closely inspect the
threaded pieces, if there's signs of spalling or galling you might want
to buy a dye
and see if by chasing the threads you can remove material that >>
