For what its worth:
The 13 X 7 prop is correct.  But 80% of full rpm is .8(3000) = 2400 rpm which is too high if I'm remembering right.  I seem to remember normal cruising speed rpm is 1600.  1000 rpm's for idle sounds to high too.  Maybe its time for a new tachometer.

That's the standard prop as installed by Whitby on the Alberg 30.  The  
experts will tell you it's too big for the aperture and too much pitch  
because the engine runs too slowly at cruising speed.  To me, it seems  
to work well enough and has done so for 30 years on my boat.  When  
docking, I'm generally in neutral by the time I get near the dock, just  
giving short bursts of power as needed.

Welcome to the list!  You only need the password when changing your  
subscription settings.  It's just a weak security measure to keep  
someone else from changing them as a joke.  To send mail to the list,  
it's just regular email.  Note, however, that the list adds it's own  
address to the "reply to" field, so if you want to reply off list, you  
have to remember to change the "to" of your reply.
