[Alberg30] halyard modification

Dave,

When your new mast head is installed, you can run all rope. Those sheeves
were machined to accept a rope halyard.

Is it  possible to run an all rope halyard through the wire/rope 
halyard shive at the top of the mast and have it function well? I was
thinking of a 3/8 line.  Are there any problems with this idea?
