I was looking for a year for a Triton, until I took a look at an A30.
The larger space, more substantial feel and similar classic lines
really spoke to me. Unlike some of the folks here, I think that
restoration is a source of pride, a deeper knowledge of the boat and
training for owning an older classic. The site that really makes sense
about restoration is www.glissando381.com . Tim Lackey has completely
restored a Triton and has many of the improvements that I am trying to
make in my A30. Right now, I am redoing the toe rail, glassing the
deck hull joint and making a bulwark after sanding and redoing the
non-skid and deck paint. I bought hull #307 Il Molino last summer and
have spent the fall and winter planning and learning. It wasn't in bad
cruising condition, but there were/are always improvements that can be
done. I have Spent about $8000 on the purchase, transportation and
materials. Time.. I don't factor in as an expense. I figure it is
continuing education and well worth it. For pictures of a boat that
sold for $6800, please feel free to email me at eyewander at prexar.com
Good hunting,
Gary Barker
#307 formerly Il Molino
