Actually, Lacquer Thinner is probably the best, and I believe much cheaper
than denatured alcohol.  I keep a can of lacquer thinner and a roll of paper
towels on my side EVERY time I caulk anything.  The only exception is
plexiglass windows.  Then I switch to mineral spirits which does not attack
the plexiglass.
