Yves,
Stress cracks in the gelcoat are not unusual or alarming. I think some
of the radiuses were too small to spread the load. You can enlarge them
into a V-shape and fill them with thickened epoxy. Paint also helps
keep the water out.
Your local sailmaker can give you price estimates for new sails. In the
Annapolis area, the prices I've gotten for a new main, #1 or #2 genoa
all seem to fall in the $1200-$1600 range.
