[Alberg30] Yanmar 2GM20F Installation -- Siphon Break

Thanks for the info on determining WL, Tom. This is my first boat and I've
only ever seen it on land, so that's useful. Before I saw your post I did an
approximation with a tape measure against the hull inside and out and came
to the same conclusion as you that a siphon is necessary. The exhaust elbow
seems to sit right on the waterline with the boat sitting upright, and given
the mandated 10" clearance at all angles of heel the situation didn't even
seem marginal. So I went out and bought one from Vetus. On the advise of the
Yanmar dealer who said I should get a siphon break "without moving parts" I
got the type "H" which simply vents to the outside via a hose instead of
using a vacuum valve. The dealer said it was real simple--just place the
device inline of the existing hose linking the manifold to the elbow. I'll
have to get more hose, of course, since the device came only with the
venting water hose. I hope it's as simple as he says to install when I get
to it. Good luck with yours.

Calvin, Voyager #30
