[Alberg30] Painting the mast

I'm looking for opinions on painting the mast and boom.

I'm not really looking for how to do it but rather pros and cons of having 
a painted mast ? Things like; is it more maintenance or less ? ,  does it 
peel off easily ? , etc.

To those who have done it, any regrets ?
