Could it be that A30's that have been used extensively in racing or ocean
sailing ( excessive rigging tension ) have 2 problems in common, 1) the mast
beam and 2) the forward lower knee / hull bond?
I know of one "knee / hull bonding" repair on an A30. It included the knee
to be completely re-done and adding 24 inches to the length of the new knee.
The new knee goes through the shelf and bunk plywood. It is glassed all the
way.
Something that I plan on doing before my Atlantic crossing in 2004.
