If you keep the rail and this spacer piece varnished, it could be any type of
a hardwood; teak, oak, etc. Depending on how tight your jib cars are where
they grip the metal rail above this piece, there should be no problem with
swelling of the wood enough to jam the cars. The delrin plastic is certainly an
excellent choice. Because of the expansin of plastic in the hot sun, make sure
that you allow sufficient room for expansion sideways for the cars. Especially
if you're going to be installing the spacer in the cold weather. ED. Schroeder
