[Alberg30] Insurance

I have been talking with Hagerty Insurance about the best way to get
quotes for our members and they agreed that their website would be an
easy way to handle it. The only thing they ask is that you put our
agency name (Horton/Marshall Financial Services) in the agency name
field in the top section of the form. Also be sure to put A-30
Association in the club membership field.
I am in the process of reviewing the BoatUS policy and providing a
comparison with the CNA policy that we are using. The most glaring
difference and the reason why the price will be lower with BoatUS is
that they depreciate the engine and other parts of the boat after about
7 years. Most companies only depreciate the sails and canvas.
If you have any questions about the policy, please let me know.

BoatUS has some exclusions in their coverage as well as valuation
differences. It has been a few years since I went over the policy with a
fine tooth comb but I will bet that it hasn't changed. Be very careful
because you get what you pay for.
Make sure that it will pay replacement cost for things like the engine
on a boat that old.
Check out the Hagerty.com site. I have already moved two of the policies
to them

Joe,
My A 30 was insured through Hanover with IMIS and they stopped
insuring
boats. IMIS got a new Co. American? and the rate went from $220 to
$538 for a
$15,000 boat. I have been talking with both Al Golden and Reese Scot at
IMIS
and they haven't been able to find a more reasonable insurer. So I have
taken
it upon myself to contact Boat US about my A 30 and they have quoted
$226 for
about the same package that I had through Hanover/IMIS. I have yet to
be
confirmed by Boat US but expect that it will go through OK. To be
insured
through Boat US you need to become a member, @ $25/yr.
