Just a few ? before we proceed. 

What's the primary component of your stripper? Alkaline or acid?
Is the stripe actual silver or aluminum leaf - the "cracks" might be sheet overlaps. 


Sadly, I fear you may be in for a greater paint prep job than you anticipated. Or you have just come up with the cool new hull decoration scheme for the 21st Century.
