What we learned from Hurricane Bob on Cape Cod, the biggest issue is chafe
on the lines and length. We generally use two 5/8 pennants with the gray
type water hose as chafing gear locked into the pennant with 1/4 inch line.
During Bob the pennants held but the boat pulled the 300lbs down the bay,
with the type of bottom on the Cape the mushroom doesn't dig into the
bottom. The boat did survive the storm. I also like New England Ropes with
their coating that seems to reduce friction and heat, again effecting the
internal chafe on the lines.

Terrapin is on a mooring in Spa Creek, Annapolis.  A 300# mushroom with new
ground tackle chain last fall will hopefully keep her in place.

We are rowing out to the boat on Tuesday and removing the sails and lashing
everything down. We will also increase the length of the mooring line to
account for a storm surge.  

I'm actually more concerned about the trees that surround my house than with
the boat at this time!
