The only time I have seen bronze polished to perfection on a daily basis was in Navy days when you
had enough boatswains mates -- on my vessel, with such short handed manning, I will put up with a
bit of oxidation.

I too, tried to restore bronze to a high polished finish when I restored my
(er, Trish's) Alberg 8 sailing dinghy. The seat straps are bronze just like
the one on a Dyer. So, polish and polish and coat with spray on
poly-urethane and here it is years later and they are green and will stay
that way as long as I (er, Trish) owns the boat.
