[Public-list] Teak

I am in the process of re-doing the Cockpit locker lids. New gaskets,
hardware, paint the underside etc.  The teak is in good shape but has not
been finished in years. I am reluctant to do a great deal of sanding since I
do not know how thick the veneer is.
 Should I use a 2 part teak cleaner or is the another way for this small
area.
