Joe,
The prop has the wrong pitch, the 12 inch diameter is fine for the Alberg
aperture. The Yanmar requires a 12 or 13 pitch. I have the 2GM20 (13 hp)
with a 13 inch pitch Sail Prop. We can cruise under normal conditions at
5.5 to 6 knots. I generally run the Yanmar at 2200 rpm. I would give the
folks a call with the link provided,
http://www.marinedieseldirect.com/yanmar/shopping/ they are great to deal
with and very knowledgeable.
Stephen

Subject: [Public-list] Prop question
I bought a new 3 bladed prop this spring-Michigan 12"R10," and find that
with
the Yanmar 3GM30, I can barely do 3-4 knots into a stiff breeze at 3000
RPM's. This is the prop that was recommended by the local propeller
seller(LOL),
but I think it is either undersized, or needs a pitch adjustment. The boat
had
a large 2 bladed prop prior to this, but the hub cracked after striking
something in the water. Any advice/comments would be very much appreciated.
Thanks, Joe #286 _______________________________________________
