I'm not a wood expert, but the interior rails look more like mahogony than
teak on Checkmate.

They are not really through bolted, either. Remove the inside rails with the
big wood screws going through them (they are long enough to go up into the
outside handrails, then look for smaller screws that normally are buried
under the inside handrails.
