Dan,
I did mine with ball valves. The idea is that the seacocks are a little
stronger and more stable. However, I just could not justify the cost - the
seacocks are at least 2x the price of ballcocks. I think the problem is
that if you have a ballcock that is blocked or stuck that you could
potentially break it off at the thruhull when trying to close the arm. I
have decided that operating all my ballvalves every couple of weeks should
keep them free and will hopefully prevent the problem from happening. I
also keep wooden plugs near each thruhull incase of this type of problem.
