I will second this - I recently sold a small boat on-line and got two very
strange sounding offers like this.  These people are "trolling" for data
that can be used for identity theft and access to bank accounts.

  General advice for the internet ---
  If it sounds to good to be true it's not.
  If it sounds strange, trust your instinct and stay away!

I've received several messages along these lines (offering to buy a
boat, sight unseen) in the last couple weeks.  That indicates, to me,
that this scam is on the rise.

If you receive such a letter, delete it (or report it to the FBI).  It's
not legitimate.  It's a scam to clean out your bank account, similar to
the more typical Nigerian 419 scam.
