Cut the pieces to size beforehand.Go to a hardware store and get a short
length of 7/8" outside diameter PVC pipe.Wrap the stuffing around it with an
overlap and do a diagonal cut across it so that you have a slanted joint, not
a square butted joint. Pack something underneath the shaft to catch anything
you drop.I f something goes to the bottom of the bilge it will take a lot
of work and time to retrieve it.
Depending on what you have underneath the cabin sole and how big you are the
easiest way to get to the job may be to empty a cockpit locker, remove the
the panels that separate the locker from the space under the cockpit
sole, mine are held by screws, climb into the locker and swing your feet and
legs across under the sole to brace on the other side.If you try this
method suggest you have someone with you to pass tools etc and sympathise if
you get stuck. It does work for me though.
