[Public-list] Bronze turnbuckles - Inspection

Matchmaker is Ted Osius' old boat - hull #482. Ted raced the boat hard and
won most of the time. The decks were badly delaminated and the owner after
Ted covered over them with teak. Ted didn't do much maitenance, and on one
race he pulled the chainplate through the deck [the rig never failed]. Bruce
Rankin fixed the chainplates and adjusted the rigging. Bruce told me that
the mast was 4" off center at the top [the whole mast was leaning]. After
Bruce made the repairs and adjustments, Ted claimed that he could never win
another race because the boat was slow with the mast in column. I guess it
is what you are used to, even if it isn't right?

Matchmaker (not a member so I don't know the hull number) lost her rig due
to problems she had during a strong storm in the Bay near the Rappahannock
River last November 2003.
