The key thing in removing the rudder is dropping it low enough to clear 
the rudderpost out of the hull. This requires either being able to lift 
the boat high enough in travellift slings or digging a hole under the 
rudder deep enough to lower the rudder into it. You remove the shoe and 
the pintles as well as the tiller and its head and if there is enough 
clearance, out it comes.
