[Public-list] Wrong boat for the conditions

Conditions looked better for a surfboard than a sailboat. But I do think the 
skipper could have avoided disaster by surfing the boat, rahter than going 
straigt down the face of the wave and burying the bow causing the boat to 
pitch pole. In surfing we used to call this pearling.

I used to sail there as a kid and the conditions looked pretty normal.  they 
must have been having problems because no one would choose to be that close 
to shore at that point.
