I'm still working on my Fireball (no, it's not an Alberg, but I too am a
"wannabe" west-coast owner!)

If you sharpen your scraper with a file, make sure you give the ends of the
scraper blade a couple of extra swipes right near the corner, to make sure
your corners are lower than the centre of the scraper. You want a *slightly*
convex-curved blade,with the middle of the blade just a *teensy* bit higher
(digging deeper) than the edges.

Otherwise, you end up with scrapes along the sides of the scraper and
nothing coming up in the middle. 

(Made the deck of the Fireball look like a zebra in places. Fortunately, a
good mahogany stain covered the worst of my sins. . .<g>)
