[Public-list] Nicro Press on Shrouds

Yes, it's me again.

I went up the mast yesterday to fix a broken Windex and to make a
general inspection of the standing rigging and running fittings. I
noticed that all of my side shrouds have nicro presses and thimbles at
their upper ends, but have Norseman fittings (or something similar) at
the lower ends.

Are Nicro Presses a normal/safe way to rig the shrouds or should I
prepare to replace the shrouds and/or cut off the nicro presses and add
mechanical terminals to the upper ends (provided there is enough shroud
length/turnbuckle range) when I take down the stick next spring? The
shrouds appear to be fairly recent and fairly substantial for the size
of the boat (the surveyor concurred).

Thanks,

Andrew Cole
