This is a question for those of you who use your boats through the
winter (where it freezes).
Does anyone have a standard procedure that is acknowledged as safe for
closing down the engine after each use?
Do you just shut off the raw intake and run antifreeze through it (after
warming everything up)? What do you do with the raw water return? When
I pump antifreeze through in this manner, I get some coming back through
the raw water return that empties into the bilge.
Do you do anything to the top end of the engine, or does starting it up
and running every so often keep the top end lubricated and rust free?
If so, how often should I be starting it and letting it run?
Do you leave your starter battery in the boat between uses?
Thanks,
Andrew
